The PBB Lab Research
The signature of life are dynamic, i.e., living cells constantly alter their phenotypes and create specific functions in response to both intracellular and extracellular environments. To this end, the development of advanced imaging and sensing tools (at different length and time scales) becomes crucial for biology and medicine nowadays.and sensing tools (at different length and time scales) becomes crucial for biology and medicine nowadays.
Main Directions
1) developing high precision sensing techniques (e.g., quantum sensing through optically detected magnetic resonance; atomic force microscopy; optical tweezer and magnetic tweezer), combined with advanced optical methods (e.g., super-resolution imaging technique);
2) developing the state-of-the-art smart responsive biosensors (e.g., hybrid quantum sensors);
3) studying bio-related issues such as Bio-magnetism, Bio-mineralization and Bio-mechanics both in vitro and in vivo.
